The question of how much a ceramic coating should cost is a highly controversial issue in the detailing community today. There are a lot of false claims and gimmicks being used to confuse customers. We are going to take a good hard look at what ceramic coatings you should consider and what they should cost. Spoiler Alert: We believe the Ceramic Pro Ion Ceramic Coatings Package to be hands down the best value in the industry, even though it is not the best package we offer, nor the most expensive one. Before we talk about costs, it is important to narrow down the field. We spent about a year selling, testing, and frankly playing with the various ceramic coatings products on the market. Grand Junction is growing, but it is still a small community. Offering anything other than the best was not an option, and we knew word would spread quickly.

After countless tests, meetings, training, and calls, we narrowed it down to three brands of coatings. Ceramic Pro®, Gyeon, and IGL Coatings. We also considered and tested products from SONAX, Chemical Guys, and countless others. While we believe many of them to be great short-term DIY options, they were not the best for professionally applied ceramic coatings. We do offer our favorite DIY Ceramic Coatings and Spray Ceramic Coatings.
We really liked IGL coatings. We continue to have access to their products (as of publication) and use many of their accessories. They have outstanding representation to work with their installers, and their higher-end products are probably second or third best in the industry.
Gyeon has an outstanding installer in the area, and to be fair, we are not sure that even if we decided to go in that direction, we would have been granted access to the product. But if we felt it was the best, we were ready for an uphill battle. In reviewing the product line and the product, we found a lot of brand confusion. Like many other coatings, they are all over the internet as consumer-grade products. If you decide on Gyeon, the only system we would suggest is GYEON Quartz Q2 MOHS+ Coating which uses the Q2 Base as the base layer and is topped with Q2 Phobic as the top coat. We found that system to have the same warranty as the Ceramic Pro Silver System with a cost closer to the Ceramic Pro Gold System. We also found that as a Ceramic Pro Elite dealer, we could offer a better product with a longer warranty that was truly backed nationwide. The launch of Ceramic Pro ION and Ceramic Pro Ultimate ION simply makes it hard for any other brand to compete.
Ceramic Pro® was the best product and company we found. Hands down. The fact is it costs us more money than other products would have. Despite the fact that Ceramic Pro® materials can cost us 3-6 times more than competing products, we are able to provide it to you for the same or less than comparable systems.
A quick note on Ceramic Pro®.Ceramic Pro only offers Professional Grade and Ceramic Pro Elite Professional Grade products. The ION line is only offered by Elite dealers. Launched in late November , it is quickly becoming our go-to product.
But what should a ceramic coating cost? First, please make sure whatever ceramic coating you are getting, that the system includes paint correction. Even new vehicles need paint correction.
Spray Coatings: Inexpensive spray coatings like SONAX and Chemical Guys are an affordable DIY option. While I do not love the idea of Professionally applied spray coatings, there are some good ones. A good spray coating, including an exterior detail, glass, and wheel faces, should cost $400-$600
2-Year Ceramic Coatings: Typically a single coat of ceramic coating, 2-year coatings are attractive to some because of their price point. Systems like the Ceramic Pro Bronze Package include glass coating and wheel faces. They should generally price out between $750 and $1,000.
5-7 Year Ceramic Coatings: A 5 7 Year ceramic coating typically has about two coats of ceramic. It should include full detail, paint correction, glass, plastics, and wheel faces. Ceramic Pro Silver and Ceramic Pro ION are great choices in this range. We rarely offer the silver package as we can now get a two-year longer warranty for about the same money. a 5 7 Year Ceramic Coating should cost between $1,350 and $1,800.
In most cases, a 5-7 year coating is all a consumer needs.
Lifetime Ceramic Coatings: A lifetime ceramic coating should have 3 5 coats of ceramic. Ironically (or IONically), the new ION system performs as well, if not better, with three coats than the Gold system does with five! While in many markets, this type of system will price out over $3,000, in this area, the going rate is $1,800 $2,800
It is important to understand that lifetime coatings are only as good as the warranty and the applicator. We are one 1 of less than 80 elite applicators in the country. The Ceramic Pro Warranty is truly honored nationwide at any of their dealers elite or otherwise.

If you want to know how much a ceramic coating will cost for your car, first we need to know what kind of vehicle you drive. Ceramic coatings are applied by hand and its a very tedious and time-consuming process. You can see why applying a ceramic coating on a small Mazda Miata will cost much less than a huge Chevy Suburban. This is simply because there is much more surface area to coat with the larger vehicle.
When figuring out a ceramic coating estimate, we classify vehicles as small, medium, or large.
Small would be coupes or compact sedans.
Medium vehicles are standard-size sedans, large coupes like Dodge Challengers, and some small pickup trucks like Ford Rangers or Toyota Tacomas.
Large vehicles are full-size trucks, suvs, minivans, etc.
Prices in these 3 categories will still fluctuate a little, but they provide an excellent starting point for the price of each ceramic coating we offer.
Once we know the size of your vehicle, the next question we ask is how long do you want the ceramic coating to last on your paint. At Dinos Detail Co. we offer 2 different ceramic coatings:
Modesta BC-X- Lasts about 4-5 years roughly 50,000 miles with proper maintenance
Modesta BC-04 - Lasts 5+ years, 50,000+ miles with proper maintenance
These coatings both give your paint a similar level of gloss, the main difference between these coatings is just how long they last on your paint.
