Lock-On Switch vs. Enabling Switch
The slide switch is a standard on/off switch for angle grinders, and many provide a lock-on feature for extended use. This provides comfort, but the grinder continues to run even if you lose control of it. For this reason, many job sites now require an "enabling" switch (commonly known as a "dead-man" switch), requiring you to press down the switch to work. If you lose control of the grinder, the grinder will then turn off.
Slide Switch vs. Paddle Switch
You'll need to decide on a slide switch versus a trigger/paddle switch for your angle grinder. The on/off slide switch usually provides a lock-on feature. However, there are job sites and shops that don't allow lock-on for safety reasons. A multi-grip paddle switch can be operated in the front, middle, and rear for better ergonomics and tool control.
