"AMPCO" is a trade name for a copper alloy. Typically Beryllium-Copper but there are several different alloys all referred to as "ampco"Tools made from these alloys are definitely very pricey but when your life is dependant upon them, the price is secondary. These alloys are rather soft when compared to steel so on top of the price their service life is a lot shorter as well.A prime example of a special application tool that you would be well advised to stay away from unless youas they won't perform nearly as well as a carbon steel tool. Now if you truly need a "non-sparking" tool there are few substitutes. These alloys also have many other applications beyond just "tools"
